Chicken pox – Living Arrows 7/53

Living Arrows is a weekly linky hosted by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name comes from a line in a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and the project is all about celebrating childhood.

Every Monday I’ll share a picture of Monkey taken that week. I can’t wait to look back at the end of the year and see how much she’s grown and all the adventures we’ve had.

This week Monkey got chicken pox. It was hardly a surprise as her last day in nursery before the spots appeared there were 11 off with it just in her class!

This photo was taken on her first day off nursery when she wasn’t too spotty but she was VERY miserable. She slept most of the morning and spent the entire day under her duvet on the settee. After initially being excited to have chicken pox like her friends, she quickly decided it wasn’t fun at all and that I should “Tell the chickens to take it back mummy.”

She’s looking a lot worse now. She’s covered in spots but we’re not allowed to look at them and photos are definitely not allowed. She seems to be feeling a little better everyday though. On the whole she’s coping OK ish in the day but the nights have been awful. She just can’t sleep at all. Any tips to help will be gratefully received.

  1. Oh bless her. I hope she is over the worst now. Chicken pox is horrod but I definitely think it’s better for them to get it when they are younger.
