Living Arrows is a weekly linky hosted by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name comes from a line in a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and the project is all about celebrating childhood.
Every Monday I’ll share a picture of Monkey taken that week. I can’t wait to look back at the end of the year and see how much she’s grown and all the adventures we’ve had.
Monkey loves to run! I play at it sometimes but really she gets it from her Dad. One of his favourite races is the Mad Dog 10k in Southport. He’s taken part in it every year since he’s been running. It’s a great atmosphere so we always go for the weekend and I’ve even been persuaded to take part once. Monkey has been to the Mad Dog every year of her life but this year was the first year we entered her in their kids race – the Crazy Pups.
She was so excited and even more so when I told her Jo Pavey would be starting the race. She’s always liked Mo Farah but she was really excited watching videos of Jo Pavey because she hadn’t realised girls could be famous runners. Now she wants to grow up to be just like Jo!
Monkey did amazingly in her race. She finished near the back but as one of the youngest and by far the smallest it was no surprise. She ran the whole way though and all with a huge grin on her face. And when she got to the finish line Jo Pavey was there to present her with her medal and T-shirt. She was a little bit star struck and didn’t say much but she looked so proud. And so she should. I’m super proud of her.
Great photos! X #livingarrows
