Living Arrows is a weekly linky hosted by Donna at What the Redhead Said. The name comes from a line in a poem by Kahlil Gibran, “You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth” and the project is all about celebrating childhood.
Every Monday I’ll share a picture of Monkey taken that week. I can’t wait to look back at the end of the year and see how much she’s grown and all the adventures we’ve had.
We live in Manchester. We’re hardly inner city but we’re only about 3.5 miles from the city centre. We live in a working class area – lots of terraced houses and not a lot of green space!
This week’s photo was taken in a teeny tiny park just opposite our house. I say park, it’s more of a cut through between our street and the main road into town. But it doesn’t matter because although to me it’s tiny, to Monkey it’s the Gruffalo Woods! It’s deep and dark, and big and scary and you never know who you might see.
I’m not really sure how it started. I think it was walking to nursery with Daddy. But now we can spend ages in this spot hunting for the gruffalo. He’s usually asleep but just occasionally we’ve had to run home quickly to avoid him.
